Cent is a social platform built around real conversation instead of algorithmic engagement: voice posts with automatic transcripts, short text posts called Signals, and a strictly chronological feed.
Problem
Algorithm-driven feeds optimize for engagement and attention, not for whether a conversation is actually real, which crowds out people who just have something genuine to say.
Approach
We built a chronological, algorithm-free feed centered on voice posts with automatically generated, non-editable transcripts for accessibility and searchability, plus short text posts ("Signals"), single-level discussion threads instead of nested reply chains, optional domain verification for credibility, and support for one image or link per post.
Outcome
Cent is live at cent.social and on iOS/Android, with working voice posts, Signals, and a chronological feed.
